Misc Stuff!

Yesterday I went to go pick up some medicine at the pharmacy, but, it was not ready. So, I had an hour to kill.  So, guess where I went? I went over to the Goodwill in Federal Way.  Didn't have much time and didn't get a chance to "dig in" but I did get a couple dresses and a couple water bottles.  Which is awesome, since Sam needs them for her dance class thing in May as well as rehearsals for her upcoming show.  And, I found a purple one! :) LOVE IT.  (The other one is exactly the same, but it is teal.)

On Tuesday evening, I got to meet an old friend for dinner.  The day had been a typical spring day in Washington: sun, rain, blue sky, rain, thunder clouds, hail! Well, when I pulled up to the restuarant, the rain stopped and this awesome site greeted me.  (Too bad I couldn't get the whole thing, it was an awesome site!)

I figured I would post a couple pictures of my cats Safire (the grey one) and Emeralde (the black one).  Mind you, Safire is not a snuggly cat, in the normal sense.  She likes being around us and near us, but not snuggly or being petted.  Except on the rare occasion.  Here is one of those rare occasions!

Emeralde likes to be petted and is more snuggly, mostly at night.  She likes to lay with me.

I  need to get back into my room.  Working on cleaning it, going through things and organizing it so my new bed will have an awesome space to live in when it gets here a week from Saturday (May 8th)!  Anyone need anything? I am getting rid of stuff! Part of me wants to save it and have a yard sale, but, I have been putting stuff on freecycle too.  Or, I may just start taking stuff to the goodwill. But, would rather at least get something for it! LOL Or, know it is going to a good home through freecycle or to one of my friends or followers! LOL So, if you are in need of something, let me know. We have a lot junk to get rid of.

Oh!  We are also looking for a new house to move to. Long story, which I might get into sometime in the near future.  So, I am starting to pack stuff away too. LOL  Yet another reason to get rid of stuff.

My friend is coming up this weekend from Portland.  She is going to be here most of the summer (as long as the plan works out). So excited to see her.  I won tickets to a comedy show Friday night, so we are going to go hit that and see what trouble we can cause.  She has some awesome costume and gifts ideas for the playa as well.  When we start making them, I will post pictures. :)

Follower?

I logged in to post something and was told I have a follower of this blog. Wow, I feel special! :)  And, it is not even an email address I recognize. So, my first follower, who are you? :)
Scored 5 free coolers from Craigslist today.  They are a little dirty, but, in good condition.  My mom says, "how many coolers does one person need!" And, all I can do is just shake my head.  Hey, the guy was giving away 5, I had to take them.  Either I will use them or I will give them away to someone who can.

Also got 2 bike locks today. :)

Anytime I am watching a video and Sam sees it, she says, "Are you watching MORE burning man stuff???"  The answer lately has been no, but, she thinks I am obsessed.  There are other things to watch online besides bm stuff. LOL

Shopping Trip!

Been a few days since I sat down to write anything. But, that does not mean that I haven't been thinking about Burning Man, or figuring out how to get there and items for it. LOL

Shoe Shopping

This week we went shoe shopping for Samantha.  While we were there, I saw these shoes and I really want them for the playa.  Although I would have to get some insoles, I think they would be awesome.

I didn't buy them, since we were there for Sam, but, I might get them still. What do you all think?

Goodwill Trip Today
Today I really just needed to get out of the house. So, after I picked up Sam from school, we headed over to the goodwill in Southcenter to look for stuff.  We had a blast. I love my daughter. She is not afraid to tell me what she thinks about stuff!

This is a wide brimmed hat with pink trim.  It also has some decorative straw thing on it, but, I may take it off. We shall see

(Thanks Sam for taking the pics!)

Although you can't see it very well, this is a knit vest that zips up with FUR on it. FUR! Who doesn't love fur! :)

Another neat hat that we got.  Samantha is wearing it (during our JC Pennys trip later).  She is in love with this hat too.  At first she told me that I could not take it to the playa, since it would get ruined. But, I told her that by September, she would be sick of it anyway.  She agreed.

A little lizard for our camp! His belly is full of this material that makes him squishy!  My cats loved tail too!  He does look angry though.  Samantha suggested we make a lemon and put it in his mouth! (gotta love my kid!)

Another neat hat. Although you can't see the detail on it.  Sam likes this one too, which means it will end up in her room this spring/summer.

My lizard is on my shoulder saying hi!

I also got two camping chairs, a dress (didn't feel like putting it on) and a cool waterbottle.  Sam doesnt like the dress, but, it is flowy and airy and will nice in the hot heat.  Samantha got a couple dresses as well.

We also scored an AWESOME Seahawks sleeping bag.  It probably won't end up going with me to the playa though, will probably be saved for football season. But, still, its awesome.

My New Bed
When we were done at the goodwill, we got a call from my mom.  She was laying on a mattress at JC Penny's and wanted us to come help her pick out a new mattress.  While we were there, I found a bed I really liked.  After much discussion (and laying on a million mattresses), we decided to go ahead and get the bed! (Thanks for the loan mom!)  My mattresses will finally have a place to call home! :)

Here is the link : My new bed!

And here are a couple pics I took in the store.

So that was our shopping trip today.  We had alot of fun. Tried on tons more stuff than we actually bought.  There were also a couple coolers that I thought about getting, but, I think I can find some cheaper at garage sales.

This is a test of the text to blogger system. I set it up, but will it actually work? I don't know!

Excel File....

One thing I like to be is organized. In looking at all the numerous packing lists and ideas, I realized that I needed to start making a list myself and figure out what I have, what I need, what I want and so on. A normal person may just start a list on paper, but, no, in my mind, that is not good enough. So, I opened up Excel and started typing away. An hour or so later, what that file become is a solid workbook of a packing list. With different tabs for categories (camping items, toiletries, food, clothes, etc), is color coded into haves and wants and even has a start page with links to each tab. Its pretty cool actually. :) I have even shared it with a couple of my camp mates to help them prepare. Yes, I am weird!

Free Tent!

Yesterday I scored an awesome tent from freecycle. I told the gal I was headed to BM with it and she gave me her camping shower thing as well. Not sure I will use it or not, but, that was super nice. Now, I must say it was adventure getting this tent.  The lady lived out by White River Amphitheater, past the Indian reservation.  I haven't been out that far in a long while and forgot how rural it was.  Below is part of the email she sent me, with directions on how to find her house after I turned off the road.....

"you will see that it is a one-lane dead-end road.  You will drive up a little hill and pass the first house on your left.  Then you will pass the cow pasture on your left and then come to a row of mailboxes on the right.  Keep going straight as the road turns to gravel.  You will pass a white goat on the left and some horse paddocks on both sides.  Keep following the road as it forces you to turn to the right.  After you've turned the curve, you'll see a dark brown house up on a hill on the left: that's my landlord's house.  Keep coming straight and you'll pass the shop (a big red building on the right).  As soon as you do, you'll see my double-wide trailer off to the right on the hill.  It's tan with a white bench and orange flower pots against the side of the house.  Beware of the dog poo - we have two farm dogs that roam.  They are both very friendly but will bark to let everyone know you're there and tend to lay landmines all over.  Bart, the black lab - he's very energetic and may try to jump up to kiss you, but with the exception of his very hard forehead and his slobber, he's harmless.  :)  Roxy, the red cattle dog is all bark and acts tough but is really just after some attention. "

See what I mean! :) LOL Who knew in Washington this still existed.....

I assembled the tent and its awesome.  (As Sam watched me and laughed since I assembled it in the middle of our living room!)  There are some mesh areas I will have to cover, but, I've got time.  And, its a little smaller than I want as its only 7X7 and like 52 inches high inside. So, I am still on the look out for one. But, if nothing else, I now have shelter or an awesome storage closet! :)

Welcome!

Welcome to my new blog.  Since I have made the decision to attend Burning Man this year, there is alot to do to get ready for it. Both material wise, mentally and emotionally. Lots of research to do, items to procure and friends to make.  In the last few weeks I have been doing a lot of research, reading, dreaming and starting to prepare. In the interest of a promise I made to myself to start documenting my journeys in life a little better, I have decided to start a blog.  Who knows if anyone will ever read it. It may just be me writing and babbling and making my lists.  But, for me, I think it will be good to document my thoughts, feelings, actions during these coming months. We shall see how things progress!
